Billing questions
Is there really a free version?
Yes, and it isn't a demo. Logging flights, checking status when you open the app, your complete travel history and passport, kept forever and never trimmed to make a point, boarding passes you scan or import, trip notes and packing lists, calendar and email import, home-screen widgets and a year-in-review card to share are all free forever, with no ads, no card and no account. Pro ($49.99/year, $7.99/month, or a $3.99 pass for a single trip, with a 3-day free trial) is for when you want the app to do the watching: continuous tracking, real-time alerts with quiet hours, early delay predictions, the live map, airport boards, flight-log export, passport insights, and the cosmetic extras. Watching a flight costs us money for every minute it's in the air. The parts that cost us nothing shouldn't cost you anything either.
How does the free trial work?
Pro starts with a 3-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then at no cost.
I only fly once or twice a year. Do I have to subscribe annually?
No. The weekly pass covers a single trip for $3.99, so you can turn Pro on for the days you're actually travelling and leave it off the rest of the year. Everything you logged stays in your passport either way.
Is there a lifetime plan?
No, and it isn't an oversight. Every flight we watch for you costs us money in live aviation data, for as long as you keep flying. A one-time payment against a cost that never stops has only two endings. Either the app quietly stops being maintained, or the promise gets broken later on. We'd rather charge honestly now than sell you a word we can't keep.
Other trackers cost less. Why does FlightDex cost what it does?
We aren't the cheapest, and that's deliberate. Nothing else is paying for this. No ads, no trackers, no selling anyone's data, and your boarding passes sit encrypted on your phone rather than on a server we'd have to run. So the live flight data comes out of subscriptions. The free plan is real and stays free; Pro covers the part that costs us money for every minute your flight is in the air.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Payments are handled securely through Google Play using the payment method on your Google account. FlightDex never sees your card. You can cancel anytime from your Google Play subscriptions; you'll keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
Do I need an account to subscribe?
No FlightDex account is required. Your Pro subscription is tied to your Google account, so "Restore purchases" brings it back on a new device.
